Re: Anzani Woo Hoo

Great little engines the Pilot and derivatives - I have a 'Seamaid' circa 1960 which is Pilot with a recoil start and a fibreglass cowl. The 360 degree pivot is a super feature.

Replace the shear pin with a brass shearpin - nothing else. Be very careful tapping the old one out that you do not ...

If you google propeller+pitch+measurement and propeller+pitch+calculation there's a stack of stuff on the principles of this.

I've just copied and pasted this from a previous post of mine as it seems relevant here. Also added a bit at the bottom.

Here are some of my experiences. I’ve a 14ft traditional clinker boat and the engine that has had most use on it is a 1958 vintage Forty Plus longshaft. The boat is quite beamy ...

There’s no doubt Seagulls have been used on all manner of craft through the years.

Here are some of my experiences. I’ve a 14ft traditional clinker boat and the engine that has had most use on it is a 1958 vintage Forty Plus longshaft. The boat is quite beamy but not heavily built, has a good ...

Came close but the surge didn't quite overtop the sea defences so no major flooding or damage and no lives lost.. Mind, a few foolhardy souls went surfing and had to be rescued.

That first one most certainly is not an Anzani Super Single. We had one from 1948 until 1960. The only similarity is the round tank. Sorry to be wet blanket....unless I'm looking at the wrong pic...

"anyone with any ideas or experience in this?"

er, well, confession time. (flak and ridicule anticipated and expected!)

Ideas, no. 'Experience', yes. In the 1960s I habitually took a quart of ready mixed 16:1 fuel with me in the boat as a 'reserve' tank. I used a variety of outboards at the time ...

2strokenut, In return I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Anzanis are good bits of kit.

I've used Seagulls and Anzanis in about equal measure since the late 1950s and like to think I can see the good and bad in both and like both immensely.

Being no engineer I can't really comment on ignition ...

There’s an awful lot of Anzani bashing going on in this thread. Maybe my experiences will redress the balance somewhat. If the Seagull buffs (I’m one of those too) find it heresy, apologies.

We had our first Anzani Super Single circa 1948, when I was but a boy. It was one of the original round ...

That Centrebolt - again!

I have a 1958 vintage 40+. The last time that centre bolt holding the exhaust flange to the gearbox was out was in the late 80s. It just took me 4 days to get it out again this week - here's another tool to try.

I cramped the skeg tight in a workmate set to it's lowest height. Did all the ...
