Re: Bought A Seagull,, Help Please
Have you got it set at the right depth? The exhaust should be 1-2 inches below water level - if you have it higher than that, then there may not be enough water available to circulate. You really shouldn't run your engine for more than a couple of minutes without proper water circulation as it will ...

Re: Electric Seagul hybrid?
Yes Vic - exactly like that.
Does it work, what motor did you use, and how fast does the motor need to rotate? - I figured up to about 1000rpm would be OK.
Thanks

Electric Seagul hybrid?
Hi all
I know that the very idea of this will send some of you Seagull purists into a dicky fit, so I apologise in advance!
I have a number of bits of seagulls in my shed, and it crossed my mind to use the propeller, gearbox and prop shaft off an old Seagull, and replace the defunct engine with an ...

Fixed!
Hi all
I now have a fully working featherweight - just a simple matter of setting the contract breaker to the correct gap fixed my final problem. Unfortunately, I now find that the transom bracket is too small to fit on my home made dinghy, so after all that, it's no use to me - anyone want to buy ...

Re: My Seagull only runs on power start!
Many thanks philj - I tried what you suggested: I poured some two stroke oil in through the spark plug hole, refitted the plug, but not the HT lead, pulled the cord as if to start it a few times, then attached the HT lead, turned on the fuel, primed the carb, and within 5 pulls, it started! Magic ...

My Seagull only runs on power start!
Hi
I am fairly new to Seagulls and am still trying to get one running. I have a number of different engines, all missing various bits. Currently I am working on a 1967 Forty Featherweight with a Bing carb (it's the only carb I have). It has good compression and a spark, but it won't start, unless I ...

How big a job is it to turn a longshaft into a shortshaft?
Hi
I now have a collection of seagulls, all with bits missing - How large a job is it to convert a long shaft seagull (forty plus, or maybe 102) into a short shaft? I have a working longshaft, but a boat that requires a short shaft - I have the mechanics for a shortshaft, attached to a non-running ...

Will an amal card work on a forty plus?
Hi
I am fairly new to Seagulls, and have now collect about 5 motors, all with various bits missing. My question today is, will the Amal carb from a 102 fit and work ok on a forty plus?
thanks in anticipation.

Newbie questions about oil type, mixing & water temperat
Hi
I've just finished building a wooden dinghy, so have just bought my first Seagull. I got a 1976 forty plus without a carb, and I've just added a bing carb to it. I have a few newbie idiot questions that I hope you will be kind enough to help me with.
