I'm after a steel SD fuel tank, also need a bayonet cap.

I have one functional new bayonet cap, and one none functional replica left. They are in the U.K. But I'm heading back this week for 2 weeks holiday.

These are made with a new cap made by Ceandess, the original manufacturer, and a new air valve made by myself. £30 for the functional, £25 for the replica. Both look just like the original, polished stainless instead of chrome.

SD PARTS

I am in need of the following parts for my SD:
1. The Villiers Magneto rope start pulley and brass nut.
2. Bayonet fuel cap - have the steel tank.

Bayonet fuel caps can be made. New caps from the original supplier are available, and the valve can be made by a competent Turner with a small lathe. I made a small batch a few years ago.

I made several fully working valves, and also dummy valves, where the cap breathed through a small hole in the diaphragm. The dummy is indistinguishable from the working version.

The Ceandess caps can be bought online.

The photo's are much appreciated.
1. Do you prehaps have a dimensioned sketch ?
2. I take it that in order to have venting, one would 'loosen' the small knurled nob, does the brass threaded stem have a flat on it ?
3. Do I order from Ceandess - 2" chromed bayonet cap without vent hole ?

Yes, they are usually available on eBay from classic motorcycle dealers. My 1966 Triumph has one on the oil tank, the petrol tank is larger. The modern ones are steel, the originals were chromed brass.

I’m working abroad so cannot supply a drawing I’m afraid, unless somebody else can, Charles or H-A perhaps.The dummy vent is quicker and easier to make, just drill the diaphragm with a 0.75mm hole to allow the cap to breathe.

This is the part, prices seem to have go up a couple of pounds since I last bought any.
