Question for late 102 oweners.
Have a late 60's plus, and its been running fine but today when it was on a boat for the first time in 30 years, there is a stream of water coming out of the pump outlet hole were the plastic hose that connects the copper water delivery pipe, fits in.
Have looked at other peoples engines on this forum (thank you all) and the parts manual.
And they all seam to have a short tube fitted into the outlet on the water pump. and a piece of reinforced hose is used to join this to the copper water delivery pipe.
On mine the water delivery pipe is curved, and exits the silencer horizontally then bends 90 degrease to sit in the hole in the pump. IS sealed in with a plastic sleeve.
That is barely proud of the hole. 1/4 inch at most. And this joint is leaking quite badly. The pipe only sits a 1/4 inch or so into the sleeve, so the connection isn't very robust.
I guess this isn't how its meant to be from the manual, so has anyone else got something like this, or is it a bodge job. I know the motor was repaired in the early 90's and am wondering if that's when it happened.
Also of this is right? do i have to take the lower unit of the leg to refit the real coupling?
So please thought ideas pictures, anything most welcome.
Thank You
Don't know why pictures didn't work when i posted ? So thanks Keith.

A picture paints a thousand words and also save you typing them.

Hi,
This is the water transfer pipe from my TCL. It has the same water pump housing as yours.

It is as received. The lower pipe fits into the dimple of the housing. Not the best solution I could say. I prefer the older type with the short tube fitted in the housing.
To my understanding in case you use a hard nylon pipe and the copper tube pushes it into the dimple then it should work OK. But with what I see in your picture, indeed the connection looks fragile. Try to do something similar to what you see in my picture. The black tube doesn't seem to have any particular reason to be there. Or maybe it is the original after it get loose. Or maybe the black piece in your picture may be the remains of the original part.
I would also like to know the serial number of your engine if you would like to tell. Mine is a TCL. But I believe that this water pump housing must be later than my model which was supposed to be manufactured up to 1967.
Thanks
Stelios

That clear plastic is a standard Seagull part for this style of water pump housing, the black rubber is a this will do the job for now repair.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
