Post by condohk69 »

the amal 2 jet on my motor leaks from the banjo bolt & also where the fuel hose connects to the float chamber.have replaced washers on the banjo but still no luck.

is there a way to stop the leaks ?

It could be a leak from somewhere else that's collecting at the lowest point.
What type of fuel pipe is it, has it gone hard, also what's the thread like on the base of the amal.

Any tiny cracks on the fittings?

It could also be a sticking float causing the float bowl to over fill and leak out of the tell tale (Same as when you operate the tickler) The fuel would then dribble down the side of the float bowl and look just like it is leaking from the banjo washers and/or the fuel tube connection.

My SD sometimes does the opposite to that and the float sticks in the up position and the engine starves of fuel!

thanks for the replies.

it has a rubber hose that seems quite hard but no cracks or anything,o leak from the fuel tap, thread on the base of the carby seems fine.

i don`t think it`s a sticking float,as i have to operate the tickler a fair bit on start up to get fuel flowing.

Jason

Pull it apart and inspect each bit for correct operation then put it all back together with new washers etc.

Get a new fuel line if it is hard and "Rubber".

Old rubber on the outside = old rubber on the inside,

Old rubber gets into everything including threads and sealing washers?

Detailed pictures of the carb disassembled may help.

Also a bent needle, a float with fuel inside or a float attached in the wrong position on the needle maybe one of your problems.

Also are the surfaces flat where the washers sit?

maybe check your fuel tap as well, I once had one that was leaking and the fuel was running down the line to the carb
