silver century carb problem...

Post by oceanman »

hi, just got myself a siver century seagull outboard. it has the amal two-jet carb and the problem is that when I turn on the tap at the tank, fuel starts leaking from the air intake. I have checked the float and its fine, the needle seams to be seating well, but still it drips fuel...its like the bowl is too full but I cant see why, greatfull for any help

Have you pushed the float way down. Ive made the same mistake once before. Have a look at the pic i posted up and you will see the pin in the middle pokes threw even further. There are 2 clip positions on the needle.

thanks for that, but I see your float seems to be made off plastic, mine is brass and seems to have only grove in the needle.

Plastic and brass are the same in size. There should be two clip positions. Have a better look.
