My Century with clutch CPC 247 L4 circa1964 suffered an immersion in salt water last year. I have had problems with"the spark" since then.
I've been given a srap Silver Century WSP CL 466EO and I'm wondering if the flywheel unit will fit my engine.
Expert opinion from a Seagull Sage will be much appreciated.

In a word, YES!
You will have to use backplate and flywheel but they are a straight swop.

Many thanx John. Will it be necessary to remove the flywheels or can I just unbolt the units?
Methinks I need to purchase a workshop manual from you!

Hi Steve,
yes Flywheels and whole of backplate assemblies will both have to be removed from crankshafts to be able to swop them.....
Waiting for new supply of manuals, should be in this week!

Finally finished the swap!! The recaltricent timing locking screws yielded to a 12 volt impact wrench for removing car wheel nuts!
I now have a nice fat spark, fresh fuel but no start, not even a feeble cough. Do I need to reset the timing or something.

No you don't!
If you have a fat spark from the original crankshaft with a replacement flywheel then you can discount ignition as a problem. Timing is fixed by the location stud, and you simply don't need to worry about it.
If you have compression, and a spark, it must be fuel...
