Re: Moment of weakness
The Evinrude Zephyr doesn’t get much respect in Canada or the United States. It has an undeserved reputation of being complicated and difficult to get running. Being the smallest (North American) production four cylinder outboard earns my respect. Plus it will push a boat nicely. You made the right ...

Re: Bendix Eclipse
Looks complete. The broken skeg is common. Very nice example. Still has the shut off switch. Those are always missing.

Re: Britannia ID Help
Thank you so much. I am still in need. I got your email and responded. This is the biggest obstacle stopping me from mechanically restoring my Britannia.Th elast piece I need is the fuel cap if you happen to have one.

Re: BMB Britannia coil fix?
You couldn’t be more right about that. Literature and decals are often different, especially in this era. Unfortunately, I have only seen two examples of the decal and both lack detail. It does stand to reason that since the image above was used as the logo on the original sales brochure/operators ...

Re: BMB Britannia coil fix?
I don't think there is a boat on the decal. The last page of the 1932 Britannia operator's manual shows the exact same image as the letter head Russ posted above. When you compare this image to the faded decals on the tank I think you will see the parting waves match. Its so hard to make decals when ...

Re: BMB Britannia coil fix?
Wow, that is a crazy ignition. Do you know the dimensions of the laminate that goes through the coil? You may be able to adapt another coil to it. I would also be very interested in Britannia decals.

It is a 1930 according to the serial number. I’m not familiar enough with them to know if the powerhead is correct for the year.

Wow, those are big trips! Outboards must be thin on the ground down there.

Re: Johnson K50
It is rated for 8 hp. American outboard manufacturers were in the midst of a horsepower race when the Johnson “12” was produced. The Outboard Boating Club of American (OBC) standardized horsepower ratings a few years later and the K-50’s rating was dropped down to a more realistic 8 hp.

Re: Australian AMECO Seasprite Outboard
Beautiful job. What an interesting outboard. I love seeing all of the Europe and Australia specific outboards. They are certainly not something we ever get to see in North America.

Re: Johnson TS 20
You have a genuine war bride. Your motor serial number is American and comes up during a period of the war years when records are sparse. Serial numbers 460783-491736 were produced from 1943-45. During this period outboard production was only for the war effort and not available to private citizens ...
