Re: I Got a Tinny!
Love a good tinnie! Light and tougher than goats knees! Just needs a decent cushion.... had mine out a few days ago, left my 'special' cushion behind....soon worked that one out....oh yeah, the 40+ ran like a champ, 1st pull start after laying down in the boot of my camper for the last 4 months. I ...

Re: curious question
My 40+ is the only o/b I own, sadly I don't use it as much as I would like or it deserves.....stuff it! Tomorrow I'm taking it out for a spin!

Re: Seagull's competition 1970s
As a brat I had an 8 foot ali dinghy with my 1st 40+ on the back, a truly sweet little motor. My sort of friend of the time had a fibreglass dinghy about the same size with a 1 1/2hp Tas like the one on evilBay. His dad had a mower shop and sold them as well. It was a complete and total mutt. Hard ...

Re: twin gulls
Sounds like fun to me! Never seen a twin Gull rig, you should proceed just for the sheer hell of it.
I will make a prediction tho, bet it's no faster. Feel free to prove me wrong. I await with considerable interest.

Re: "Summit to Sea": Seagulls on the Murray
Dont I wish! Sounds like the trip of a life time. If I had to build something to float down on, I'd be sorely tempted to build a catamaran from long run roofing iron as a nod to the 'tin tippees' beloved of kids (or were, pre-electronic everything....) and from a durability point of view ...

Re: Removing rust from water jacket
Looks about right for 1st thing in the morning.
I'm impressed with the testing set up!
I cleaned the scunge out of my 40+ the hard way and was rewarded with a flow about the same size.

Re: 2012 Seagull - Thoughts on what it would be?
Interesting stuff. There are some truly ugly (and as such well cool) Asian diesel outboards to be had, Klaxon build some particularly hideous (excellently horrendous) offerings. Love the way the starter rope is at the back of the motor. Diesel also leaves the way open to bio-fuel, a whole can of ...

Fun project!
So, the difference between the 'Plus' and 'Minus' is the different g/boxes?

Re: New Delivery expected soon
Excellent save on the 40+!
How anyone could let it get to that state beggars the imagination..... Still, it's a good'un now. I do like the 40 family.....

Yup, been there
A few times I've been rockin' and rollin' coming home, hoping the 'Gull would stay on the case. Always have so far, knock on wood....

Re: I was Unfaithful to my Seagulls today!!
My 'Gull booklet spells out in no uncertain terms that over oiling will cause no damage whatsoever, just a tendency to oil the plug at sustained low revs. Under oiling, on the other hand..... :o :o

Scrape the gasket clean with a razor blade then the thinnest, meanest smear of Red Goo on either side should, if you will excuse the pun, seal the deal.

Re: I was Unfaithful to my Seagulls today!!
Interesting place! The thought of a pair of 40+'s droning away in harmony is something to think about! The last time I used mine it was perfectly still and flat on the estuary I was chugging up, the 40+ was dragging a long blue cloud behind, I could see where I had been an embarrassingly long way ...

Unless I'm missing something, entirely possible...

Re: Hi from a novice Seagull owner..
Pretty 40+! The 40+'s are my favorite, I've just fixed the cooling issues on mine, much to my satisfaction. Love the testing tank! A useful idea I picked up here is to remove the drive spring from the prop when tank testing, it kills the whirlpool effect dead. There is enough drag from the shaft and ...
