British Anzani Pilot free to a good home
I have had this little engine for about 6 months the idea was to use it as a mackerel trawling motor. When I got it home I discovered it was ceased solid with the piston actually rusted into the barrel, tried a few things to free it up but to no avail and I have now been given a 2.5 horse seagull so I've lost interest. The engine is a 1954 British Anzani Pilot 1.5hp (or at least that is what I was told) and has no fuel tank but otherwise it all seems to be there, its yours for the cost of the postage or free if you can come and pick it up from Caerphilly (near Cardiff in Wales). It seems a pity to throw a this little vintage engine in the bin fix her up, use her for spares the choice is yours, so anyone looking for a new project, here it is

Hi niander you little Toad, trying to steal this motor from under my nose? If you really want it and intend to restore it, I will step back, and wish you well. It is just that my motor is in much the same state as the freebie, only worse. The flywheel is broken at the centre, the coil plate is cracked, and the crank needs regrinding and fitting with new bearings. The piston was solid in the bore but by careful surgery with a hammer and chisel, the piston is now out of the bore (in pieces), so I have a way to go. Let's hope that we get some feedback from newbie soon. All the best. Malcolm Rose. 

Malcolm - I should have a Pilot you can have which I think will yield the parts you need.
ingintions are interchangeable as a set, but do you happen to know which ignition yours has? A lot of the earlier ones had Miller ignition, whereas later ones went to Wipac. If Wipac, the name is cast into the top of the flywheel. Motors up to and including the mark 3 had Amal carbs - later ones a Zenith carb. Worth doing - I think they are underrated little outboards. Rick.

Rick, I hope that you have not given up on me. I still need those parts and although we may live a fair distance apart I feel sure that we can come to some arrangement.
As for you niander you seem to have gone very quiet and yet maybe you have some insight/knowledge that you could throw into the pot. Indeed a line from him that started this would be most welcome. I look forward to hearing from you Rick. All the best. Malcolm.
