Flywheel with an external groove in it

I recently bead blasted a spare but damaged flywheel I have.

There had never been any paint on it as I could see, someone had used a puller to remove it flrom its motor and in doing so damaged one of the two windows.

I noticed that on the outer rim there was a small groove, at the time I asked what that was about?

There was no reply but I have now read on wwwseagullparts.co.uk that the flywheel is a Mk4 and should not be used on other motors.

My spare (damaged) flywheel is the top one, the groove is lower down, would it mean the same thing as in a Mk4 flywheel?

As far as I know there is no problem with interchangeability concerning flywheels of the mk2 variety. Any mk2 flywheel should work with any mk2 coil.

The CDI flywheels had no windows, they can be used on any Seagull but must be used with the matching flywheel/coil assembly!

On the Wypacs with points I know of no reasons why the flywheels couldn't be swapped, the flywheels are identical apart from the groove.
