Saving Old Seagulls

Just purchased a small Seagull which appears to be in reasonable condition....see attachment
Cleaned the carb and tank and using a drop of 2 stroke the engine does run and appear to pump water. Going to check gearbox oil and then hope to put it on the 8 ft boat and go for a run. According to the the serial number the engine was built around 1972 and appears to be fitted with a bing carb. Just wondering if someone can put me straight on the 2 stroke fuel as i don't want to ruin the engine, i have read that you can use 10.40 engine oil with a mix of around 15.1 is this correct. I do have some commer Mineral oil which states it is dual temperature, would this be suitable AT 25.1? Just found a bottle of Motex pictured, suitable?

Still 10:1 until about 78, try and keep it at about 10:1, unless you convert it to 25:1

Thanks for your replies, i'll take a look around and see if i can pick up some tcw3 2 stroke oil, canal is at bottom of garden so thought while weather was still holding might be nice for a run, but will wait until i pick up correct oil. I'll post a picture of the carb, from the breakdown does look like a bing.
This is all new to me but will no doubt figure it out as i go along.

That 2T oil, I got some bottles from a local garage for £2.99, I use it to run motors up in the test tank, but I wouldn't use it if the motor is going on the water.

Your Motex 2T fits all your Seagulls requirements, mix the first tank full at 15 : 1 as it's not been run for a while, then 20 : 1 as you don't know if it's had an easy or hard life.

Also check the gearbox lube, you will eventually find all the info on the main site.

We live on the Caldon Canal, in North Staffs, i'll try the Motex over the weekend or may order some of the proper oil off the ebay.

It's TCW 3 & that's what Seagull specs require, if it's only for air cooled motors it will have a little higher viscosity but as Seagull's were designed to use 30 grade motor oil it should be no problem.

Sorry if I offended you with a blunt reply, but you offered no reason why an oil that fitted all the technical specs was not suitable to a newby who just needed a straight forward answer, I would run that stuff in any of my motors from a Marston to an Anzani B racer.
