elctronic ignition

Post by dvdhat »

I have recently acquired from my brother in law a Seagull 40 EPFC 662JJ that hasn't run for many years. I have taken off the flywheel to access the ignition system. It is a Mark 3 Wipac or Electronic Ignition. There is some corrosion on the metal parts which I assume is stopping the ignition working. What do I need to do to get the ignition working effectively again? Do I need new parts or will light cleaning do? Thanks, Dave

Have you checked the coil?

There is nothing to check on either of the Wipad CDIs used by Seagull, when they die, they tend to be very dead, you will have to remove the cdi from the baseplate & send it back to John for an exchange replacement.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
