Also Is West Australia Day tomorrow which used to be Foundation day.
None the less, I have news re my search for an FVP gearbox, got one UK Ebay just now, 4 and a bit pounds plus whatever the postage is...........very cool and thanks to Adrian for the heads up about it to me a few daze ago!

I went to a street party yesterday, about fifty yards away from the house.
Organised by a lady who happens to be a fellow yacht club member and her next door neighbour who mends my sails, the event was very sensibly brought forward 24 hours because the weather forecast promised that today would be a washout down here. There was a mountain of food, there was beer, there was wine, and there were loads of people. Raffles, quizzes, and what have you.
Current primary woman was feeling unwell - we think maybe from a Blandford Fly bite - so I took the hairy Babe Magnet along. He worked like a charm.
But no pix - I didn't take a camera.
I will enjoy watching the Thames Pageant, shame I'm not actually up there, but as many have pointed out you may miss the atmosphere if you watch an event on the telly but you actually see loads more.
Well done getting that FVP gearbox, I nearly bid on the prop. I hope the postage doesn't work out too heavy.

Turning my boat the right way up so I can get it back on the trailer with the help of my son in law. winter storm turned trailer and boat upside down - luckily no damage to either

spent all weekend at the bribie island boat regatta, didn't do much seagulling as the weather was good for sailing,
traded my old yamaha srx600 on a bmw f650, a lot easier on worn out hips and shoulders, been doing voluntary work for sailability, sailing for the disabled,

You're right, Niander. A classic Seagull at the Thames Pageant would be nice; I've been watching the TV broadcasts carefully. I haven't spotted one yet.

I've been making-up some beehives from old pallets. Was going to buy wood from Wickes - then I saw their prices. I reckon pallet wood is better - it's the same cheap softwood, but well-seasoned ... and FREE.
Nothing much on the Seagull front - I've got a couple still in bits waiting for the paint to fully harden - otherwise everything is pretty-much ok.

Well what a wash out, the village picnic was a little wet, but still went ahead, all good fun.

Good to see another beekeeper! Unfortunately I just had to sell thirty hives to help pay some costs toward relocating my business to home. Just spent the afternoon on boat watch, not by choice.
I was up at Largs marina watching the delights of sailing when a family arrived in the public car park. Dad, somewhat lively, produces an inflatable and a small outboard. Something told me he didn't have a clue, and so it proved. Putting the dinghy in the water then attaching the outboard, he proceeded to load it with children. Having floated 20 or so yards out he decided to try and start the engine, well, even my wife with no knowledge, was getting worried. Pulling at the cord he managed to pull the engine off the transom (still floating out), eventually he decided to put fuel in it and after another round of pulls, the engine started. What next you ask. The idiot went out into deep water, kids and all. Watching intensely we could see him having to restart the engine numerous times, Would you believe this guy came into shore a few times and changed the kids over, and everytime he went out he had problems.
Having seen him eventually leave the water, I headed off relieved.
Surely there should be some kind of legislation to stop idiots like this, these people put their kids lives at risk and depend on the rescue services to help them.
What do you guys think of people having to do ashort water users test before being allowed on the water, like new motorcyclists, to ensure they have a safety awareness?

I think it's a good idea, not saying that I would pass it myself.
You could look at it from this point, have you seen the way some people drive on the road
and they already have a Licence
Some time ago I did a drivers awareness course, well it saves smudging a clean license, totally pointless if you ask me, it was run by driving instructors and this is what happened, a lady turned up and her full license had expired, she still went on to pass the course and then was allowed to drive herself home.
