This is an article fron Silicon Chip here in Aus May 2008. Its a CDI module. Which is avalable from Jaycar Electronics, KC5466 $21-95. I have built several of them & used them on small engines to replace faulty CDIs that were either too expensive or just not avalable. There is only a few parts invoved, if its a multi cyl engine then you need one for each cylinder.

Daryl

Thanks for posting the 'Silicon Chip' pages

Up til now, I've been reluctant to buy one of these kits without the supporting article

What's your preferred potting compound? I use epiglass HT9000 but it's a bit expensive.

Hi Rex. Ordinary Fibreglass resin should be ok, I have been known to use Roof & gutter neutral cure silicone.

Do you think this would work well as replacement for dead Seagull CDI?

Not sure since i dont have a Seagull with a CDI, & havent seen a circuit of how one is actualy wired up. After looking at a few pictures of a Seagull CDI, It doesnt look like its suitable.
