Hi Guys
New to the forum, and also Seagulls in general. I have been fortunate enough to have been given a 40 Plus, I think built around 1979. The engine has not run since leaving the dealers shop 30 years ago. What is my best course of action to get her running? my obvious worry is dry bearings etc. Thanks for any and all advice, Alex

Re: 'Brand New' 40 Plus... s tart-up help
hello alex and welcome. there could be a number of issues with a motor that hasn't been going for so long.it sort of depends on how it has been cared for in the interim. however i would suggest you check out the faq section on this site for starters which should give you good direction for most seagull problems.then maybe come back if you have any specific querles after that. the search option on this forum will also cover most problems in good detail....cheers

I would be pulling the carby off, remove the plug and turn until piston is closest to plug hole and then spraying a whole lot WD40 into Carby hole. Rotate by hand..... if all feels well and gearbox has oil.... put together and start her up. Tough little buggers they are.
Cheers Hugo.

Belay that - thanks for the replies guys, turns out not to be quite so old, SEFPC**E9, so May 1989 and a 40 plus 55 with clutch.
I'll post a couple of photos over the next day or so but seems to have been garage stored immediately after purchase and never used. Again, thanks for the advice. Alex
