Removing Dents from Brass Tank

Post by DaveF »

Hi,
I've got a 73 Forty Plus Mk II with a brass fuel tank. Some good dents in the end plates (stamped with "seagull". Has anyone attempted to remove the end plates with heat to loosen the solder (I'm assuming the plates are soldered on)? Then one could remove the dents, then resolder.
Thanks,
Dave F

Look at the subject "Safe way to cut tanks", this is a topic about taking the ends off the tank and the guys with experience have explained it fully.

Thanks! First time to this site and while waiting for a reply I found the same link. Excellent detailed post on the repair. Think I'll do this.
Cheers,
