Hi All,
wonder if anyone can give me some advice as to why I have to put a rag over the air intake everytime I want to start my 40+ with a Villiers carb?
Have tried all ways to start it, eg; full choke, no choke, full throttle, half, and no throttle at all, (no go) unlessI put a rag to her !!
When its warmed up its not too bad to start, but something is amiss somewhere!
Any ideas people.
Problem Solved !! Many Thank's

I think I would check that the jet assembly is truly clean, that the needle is correctly adjusted, that the float height is correct and above all else refer to the diagram of the Villiers carb on the website to ensure it is correctly assembled.
But what was the problem?
But what was the problem?

Hi Vic thank's for your reply,
I stripped the carb one more time, Villiers mk2, and gave it another clean, and it wasn't as bad as it was before .
The only other thing that I came across was, that I was unable to get the screw out of the top of the slide to take the jet out properly and to determine what number was on it.
