can i use a century 100 amal carb on a 102 as my 102 amal carb has decided to disintergrate . they look very similar . are the jet sizes any different ect.

The Century has a Villiers carb which is not the same stub inlet diameter as an Amal.... sorry not interchangeable.

mmmmmmm why did i then end up with a 2 jet amal carb and the only noticable difference is the in let cowl with a slip of plastic (choke i presume ) in it then ? maybe it was listed incorectly on ebay and i just got lucy.

My earlier info is correct. The Century model uses a Villiers carb on a port side inlet stub. The Silver Century model uses an Amal 46N carb on a starboard side inlet stub. The inlet stubs are different diameters. ( The 46N was superseded by the Amal 416 carb in the late 70's ) The Amal 46N was also fitted to the Model 102.
The key word here is "Silver" to differentiate between the too different Century type models.
The item you have purchased is correctly described as being for a Silver Century; it will therefore also fit a Model 102. It is unlikely to have been converted from 10:1 to 25:1 but it would be worth checking when you do a strip down to clean it out. Have a look at the main site FAQ for jet sizes.
