Hi, and welcome.

First I would suggest you get hold of the right owner's manual, John will be able to supply one, his number is at the top left of the page.

Next you really should check and top up the oil in the gearbox. You'll need 90 grade (not multigrade) for a Kingfisher.

I would also put in a new plug, or at the very least check and regap the one that's there. Have a look at the FAQ section on John'a website here:

A Kingfisher is possibly the best they made, and it's a quiet powerful unit. If you need to ask further, let us know the serial. It's stamped on the aluminium crankcase just above the top of the driveshaft tube.

cheers the original manual should be winging its way to me soon as the seller said he would send it when he found it (know him of a forum and chat regulary)

done the plug cleaned the carb and fuel lines etc (that got it running)

gearbox it is then have a nosey in the morning, and get the numbers as well

quite powerfull I thought it was 6hp, its at the top end of my boats rating granted but i figured better to have the full power i could 'just in case'

I'd say that is a 1988 Kingfisher long shaft, it should be black painted with a bronze big end bearing, no twist grip throttle or remote fuel.

Everybody who owns one loves them, less character than a 102, but more grunt & reverse & less noise.

I think they're real nice motors.

im going to have to take some pictures, it looks like its wired for a remote start actually its probably a power take off as it doesnt have a starter motor i have noticed :P , and has what appears to be a remote fuel line connection

ill get in the shed in the morning and take some

That's an alternator, that has 2 different power output's, details of which can be found elsewhere on this site.

Remote fuel must have been added as an optional extra, as at this time fuel on the Kingfishers was usually gravity fed.

The Kingfisher powerhead was the most powerful 102cc motor ever produced by Seagull who's own dyno tests credited it with 0.1 BHP more than it's 170 predecesser (have I spelt that wright?) at a lower fuel consumption.
