The engines certainly appear far superior to the Seagull, as the others in Collectors collection and I appreciate them. But hang on - my learning curve for the bloody Seagull has been steep over the last two years, and Anzani's etc are a bit beyond the remit!

I like outboards and have made up a small collection of british and other outboards and if i wouldn't have brought some of my outboards they would have gone as scrap and i would like to keep some of our british history for myself, Ok this is the SOS site, and if some one has information on an outboard, i would like to find out what i can as a lot of information about most vintage outboards are hard to come by or even lost.
I will apologise to John for mentioning other outboards in his site and will endeavor to keep my posts to seagulls only.

I agree, if it is smelly old outboard than it must be OK.
As with lots on niche forums people need to encourage posting, not stop people from posting. This forums globally this has very few people who look at it!
I'm tempted to ask why ITALIAN fish and chips but I know I'll only regret it!
There's quite a few diesels running on chip fat round here now Hugz, nothing to do with being green, more to do with the price of diesel. Wish it would work for a seagull too!
Mind you I did see a TV program a little while ago that ran a sit on lawn mower on lard, just heated it up till it melted and away it went! soon stopped when it cooled down tho.

I'm sitting here nursing a stuffed back (it's that bad I could hardly stagger to the bottle shop) after lifting the EFNR (geez they are heavy) outa the test bin and realised that a seagull could easily be turned into a still. Need to remove conrod and piston. Use block/crankcase as pressure vessel. Carby port for thermometer and mix (how apt) , plate over exhaust port, coil pipe welded into plate. Cut drive shaft. Prop in moving water pumping water into exhaust tube as condenser and hey presto alcohol outa exhaust.You get the gist!
So if you collect the distilate from the exhaust, pump it up to the carb of a motor sitting beside it, drip feed corn oil, you could power your boat on potato peelings, barley & sugar.
Oh you need a fermeter as well.
Nice to see your green credentials coming through, no more gas guzzleing outboards in Botany Bay.
