Scored piston
Hi, the piston on my silver century looks scuffed on quite a large proportion of it's surface. Is it ok to polish it up and fit new rings? It runs well however, but I' m concerned it might seize in the future. When I rotate the flywheel by hand , it feels a little tighter than it was an hours run earlier.

Photo would help a lot if you can post one.
Carbon buildup is common and can be cleaned off, usually leaving a nice smooth surface beneath. Cleaned up piston and new rings can really improve performance.
If the piston surface is actually scratched beneath the carbon that could impact performance (disrupted airflow eg).

I'd like to see a Photo as well. I've seen Pistons that were salvageable in the past, but it all depends on the degree of damage. I came across a Lad who had "Seize Marks", and it turned out he was running it on 25:1. Polished it up, fitted new Rings, went back to 10:1, Motor running fine ever since.
