Brass chain that holds split pins on a 102.

Post by Horsley-Anarak »

My 102 had its brass split pins held by fragile brass chain (bottom one in picture).

Don't know if this is hard to get but one of my local hardware stores, that is a bit "have you got any forkandles" sells the shiny chain in the picture.

It has slightly larger links, but I think works better.

They sell it for £2.80/m, if anyone wants any I can pop in and get some.

HA, has your original chain broken or have you bought some more because you think it must shortly?
I have a 1946 'D' with a skeletal sort of clamp with that chain holding the top pin and the bottom clasp. Its original and 62 years old!
And I bought the engine from a prehensile moron who had thrown it about without a care . . .

R.B.T The original chain was in quite good condition, but I found it kinked easily and was hard to use.

The new chain is much easier to use and hangs feely.

It is also nice and shiny, not that this made any difference in the Concours, as nobody even looked at my nice shiny chain. :)

P.S. Has anyone found a source of cotton braided throttle cable outer?
