£285 is about on the money for one of these Tam.
The typo is with the 1 in the price.
But yeah, i get your point...

Re: Ebay laugh out loud thread..
Let me tell you a little story about this vendor, about a year ago I went to buy an Osprey in Lewes that I'd seen on ebay for around £100, so off I went with the money in my pocket to a caravan right next to the water in a small boat yard by the bridge, when I got there the vendor showed me a water butt with a CPC in it telling me here's you Seagull, I replied "that's not the ****ing motor I bought" to be told, yes it is, so I suggested he went & had a look at his add on ebay, on his return I was told his mate who placed the add had used the wrong picture.
After an 190 mile drive counting the return I was not too happy & passed comment on here!
This is a salt water motor, with restricted spares availability & at £285 is an awful lot of money from a dubious vendor, so take care if your interested.
I couldn't even leave bad feedback as the sale was cancelled.

This should bring a smile to everyone's face.
Yesterday Keith P told me about a QB he'd seen on Ebay 232103998239 & knowing I was looking for one from my wanted add he let me know.
So it was bought for the buymenow price of £100 about right for a south coast motor from an area where there is little fresh water.
So at 11.30 AM this morning, I jump in the car & off I go, off to Newhaven East Sussex, get there about 2PM, meet the vendor (ADYSIM) who offers to show me it running, only to be shown a CPCL sitting in a water butt, when I insisted this wasn't the motor in the pics on the add, even though it did have a plastic tank.
It turned out to be a clerical error, I'm told!
Well at least I did get to have a 190 mile drive in Friday afternoon traffic, Magic.
Thanks Keith!
When the revolution starts, the name on top of the list for the firing squad, will be KeithP!
P.S. got home at 5.30

Re: Ebay laugh out loud thread..
I think you'll find that the post was more about the price of this motor Chas.
£1285 when if you look into the ad a bit more it's actually £285.
It might very well be a saltwater motor being so close to the salty stuff. Not really my cup of tea however. I'm sure that any other Osprey is a really nice outboard to use, but as you say Chas. once bitten twice shy.

Yes I saw that Jon, that's why I quoted 285 as the 1285 looked like a typo.

I was skimming through this thread...
Forgive the ignorance but will a 'clock key' actually fit an Amal carb jet? And if so any ideas for the other Seagull carbs?
Thanks.

Who got the Marston OP that was on Ebay on Friday, I think, the £20 one?

Re: Ebay laugh out loud thread..
Did it sell for £20 in the end then?

Re: Ebay laugh out loud thread..
Dunno it disappeared.
I'd say it was a spares motor, beyond economic repair, too much needed for restoration!

Yes I was thinking the same, plenty of stuff missing there.
