Aussie 102 needs new home
While I know there is a " For Sale" section,I am posting this here because it is the busiest part of the forum.
Some time ago I mentioned on this forum that I have an old wartime 102 that I was going to restore.Well I have decided I have too many boat building projects on the go & finding time to start the Seagul project keeps on being put off.
So,....I have to let it go.
Was going to put it on ebay but recent comments on this forum by Hugo in Sydney, & others, lead me to feel that there are possibly more Seagul tragics active here than there are watching for bargains on ebay....Australia that is.
Not knowing what it is worth,I would much prefer to let it go to a genuine Aussie collector for restoration or parts.A Seagul lover will surely know what it is worth.
If anyone is interested I am happy to hear from you via email or this forum where I can post detailed specs & pics.
I am in Newcastle & home much of the time if you are close enough & want to come & have a look.
Over to you.

Woo hoo I got it going! (SD) At first there was only a mist of water coming through which understandably worried me but after a minute or so an excellent volume. She won't start with out the drill bit but I intend to renew the electrics apart from the primary/ secondary coil.
Had a bit of excitement. The clutch dropped in,the drill became stuck, the motor revved up, and the motor tried to jump out of the wheely bin. Being the cool, calm collected person that I am.....I panicked... but did manage to get the throttle down and drill disengaged and motor refastened, it kept running all the time as they do. Strewth, did I need a beer!
I find 102's do that at first, they test the new owners to see who is boss, bit like a horse really. Four bolters on the other hand seem rather insipid in comparison.

Know what you mean re: Insipid Hugo, but I have found that four bolters prepare little breakdowns, vibrate nuts loose etc just to test your level of commitment! Once they are happy you are suitably 'worthy' they settle down and become reliable.
HID says its just an engine, but what does she know? she didn't understand at all when my 40 was testing me, I stood it in the corner of the garage and took the M*r*n*r instead and told the 40 to have a long serious think about its behaviour while we were gone.
It worked.

Could be a while Al. At this stage I get them running and look for parts so they are original and when I have more time I'll restore them tho with your SD I'll start straight away. Trying to find which part is original can be hard to know as Seagull did seem to swap and change a bit. Have organised for a set of points and condenser to be sent over from the old country. Apparently the magneto, when in tip top condition, is powerful enough to start the motor without a rope but with a flick of a wrist... this I shall aim for!
psss if you find an interesting seagull let me know, don't tell anyone... grin...
How are those great boards going? I was mighty impressed.

Last coat(fifth) of urethane clear is on 5'4" Fish....leave it now for a month to cure before polishing.9'6" mal is well under way.
The alleged 102 was reported to me from the same mate who gave me your little gem.Normally an unreliable bugger,he shocks me from time to time like when he turned up with your 102 & another motor as part settlement of a long-standing debt.
Interestingly,he claims that the source of the "new" 102 is the same same as the first one,& that this source once had a "number" of Seaguls being used on workboats & still has them somewhere.
If anything comes of this,I'll keep quiet about & let you know in secret!
