My 40 plus is already to be reassembled, so I started with the gearbox, after putting the pinion gear back into place and making sure the bolt recess was lined up with the casing,

The split pin holding the pinion collar had snapped, after fiddling about I got the rest of the pin out
The question is how do you get the split pin back in without removing the whole thing:?:
I noticed the pinion collar pin hole does not line up with the slot in the casing making it difficult to put a pin However this must have been how it was done in the factory,
Anyone had this problem before
