Twist Grip Throttle

Post by Collector Inspector »

I am always looking at things around me.................what I do in my field anyway.

I chanced on this as a very neat option for a twist grip throttle controller.

Yes on a push bike and is for changing gears but at the end of the cable at the gear hub was the indexing for this application.

Logically the twist assembly will not have any index so it would be linear from whatever pull to whatever maximum cable travel.

I like it.

Looks good but i'm thinking it could be quite expensive.

I have seen indian made Royal Enfield twist grips on ebay for not allot, i mean cheap enough, to buy and try and not cry, when it don't work.

But if you investigate, please keep us up to date.

You see this afternoon, my wife "started a seagull". (EFNRL)
She said "i can start this one, its just like your lawn mower, i don't have to wind up the string".
"Now if it had the tunney thing it would be a real boat motor."

Gentleman there your have it straight from the mouth of a 55 year old blonde,
whats is seen by normal people as wrong with our seagulls.
When Evelyn (said blonde) take the guides out in our boat, im required to put the yamaha motor on the boat, electric start,
gearleaver on tiller, and it go's backwards.
Her words, not mine.

Howdy Collector Inspector.
Now, this is what I am talking bout.
Took my boat out for the first time with my Forty Plus, and I knew that the tiller will be way to short for my boat....need a longer tiller - but what about the throttle - run back and forth from the end of the tiller to control the throttle...???!!! :P
What you come up here is a great idea.....I am really interested to see how you are going to make it work.

Would love to see pictures when you are done with it.

Good idea like the short shift drum the only thing missing on the Nexus is a damper.

Amal twist grip will need a 90deg elbow out of the drum or it will have a cable that's not in line with the tiller, look for
an OE unit some of aftermarket ones are not as smooth to use.

Having used Amal throttles for 45 years why bother the lever does the same job.

When I use my long tiller extension, I have a remote throttle adjuster too. It also doubles up as an emergency paddle!! Small nudge with the paddle blade on the lever does the job well enough for me.
