Anybody got any useful tips on how to remove the two slot head bolts? Have sprayed with loads of WD40 but they just won't budge.

Will give it a try, anything in the vicinity I should look out for, don't want to cause more damage?

Indeed :D

And while reaching a top temperature, submerge it. Repeat those cycles, and in the end while hot, say 50% of the top temp, try to remove them.
