TSD Graphics

Post by Collector Inspector »

Hi all

I have worked out the colours/fonts for the TSD basically from the one remaining decal (Starboard Side Oiling) attached and what can be sorted visually main TSD and detail measurement from rear of tank. Very worn but sorted out the larger picture measurements and fonts so to speak.

What I need is some further detail as to what the decals actually had as "words" ..............

I was told these are very common in the UK when I posted that I was initially interested in importing down under? Problems with gearbox teeth?

If any one can help with ANY pics of decals would be a time saver aye.

Any One ?

Hope so

Regards

OILING INSTRUCTIONS
Lubrication of the motor is effected
by mixing oil with the petrol in the following proportions :-
Half pint of oil to one gallon of Petrol
Thoroughly mix oil and petrol to-
gether before putting into tank.

USE AERO SHELL OIL

That is what I can read.

These can't be common as I have not seen or heard of one before. More unmentionables than TSD engines here in the UK!

Yes That was my first impression.....may well turn out to be in complete agreement but I researched Aero Oil.....................not exactly what a boatie would be familiar with so, had a closer look at the photo for that side.

If you can see the "L" of OIL....it is really close to the oval surround. Logically (Even though the Decal has uneven and ODD text) would it not be rather fitting that the first letter to the left would be the same spacing?

This is what I came up with, maybe right or wrong but fits well......

Maybe others can print the initial pic and give this a go.

Anyway

The back of the tank decal is but a shade. I have ALL the dimensions and the T.S.D. font spot on.....................Just need detail of the small text...every where and very "Busy"

Bruce, a few firms about that create new decals, this one is near to me:

or

http://www.classictransfers.co.uk/

I created the little 40 decals, and sent them to Sharpy who created the waterslides that John now stocks. So I'm sure he could do this with yours.

My money is still on Aeroshell, not enough room for the S.

I will check some more literature that I have of that period to see if there is more information.

There may not be any other decals in existence, should that not be left as is?

I bet you can't get a picture of another better decal.

These are not an engine you see every day.

Send me a high res picture square on to decal and I will photoshop it.
