Carb for FVP

Goodmorning Jon,

As I understood the carb on the SJM should fit too, so of course I will try that one.
I will adjust it as you suggest.
But still I will keep looking for the original.

I have only repaired one of these missing/broken stubbs.

The tiller arm is made from 18 gauge 7/8" brass tube, giving an ID of 0.775 & an OD of 0.875.

I mounted the top half of the crankcase with the cylinder face on the bed of a mill & the joint face against an angle plate.
Milled the fracture line clean & then drilled a 3/4" 1mm deep recess into the crankcase with a slot drill, I then drilled & tapped a 1/4 BSP thread into the crankcase, made up a new stubb from aluminium bar, & tapped the end male 1/4 BSP with 30 thou turned down to 3/4" & then screwed & glued (with epoxy aluminium glue) into position, as the join line was recessed into the crankcase the repair was almost invisible without the aid of a magnifying glass.

Probably 1/2 an hour of machine shop time & no expansion problems with disimilar metals

Hi Evert,

I've found a FVP crankcase with s/n 5428 in the shed.

Finding the brass tube in Holland will be difficult so I've got a brass 102 tiller arm we can cut on the right length.

I had a look for a Little Forty Villiers carb but couldn't find one.

Do you mean that I can buy from you that uppercase from the crankcase and the tillerarm?
That would be wonderfull and makes life easier because you are in the neighborhood.

Crankcases halves goes together. The bushes (bearings) are reamed together, so to cooperate as a system you should have a matched pair.

Stelios is right.

You can't use only the upper crankcase on your FVP.

The parts are surplus of my F, FV and FVP projects so you can have them if you want.

I don't drink and sing old sailor songs (I sing only when I'm drunk).
