I've been lurking around for a little while , and I have to complement you all , for being such a well mannered and helpful group - I've learned a lot, just in the brief time I've been looking .
So , now I have a question :
I've broken down a Century 100 Long Shaft (1962-ish) I got a while ago -
It was a salt water motor , somewhat abused and put up wet . I think I can make it run again, but it has some "issues".
I got to the carb , and found something I haven't seen before -
Obviously signs of a previous owner's "precision adjustment" :

As you can see , the top of the center piece looks like someone worked it over with a punch , or something .
The top of the jet bore is no longer even round !
As a result , the needle , and consequently the air slide, jams about half-way down into it .
Hmmm - After looking at the photo again , I'm thinking the guy hammered it with a Phillips screwdriver

I have a small lathe , and I can chuck the piece , and face it off a bit without problem ,
BUT , can anyone tell me what the original jet drilling was supposed to measure ?
If someone knows the size , or the drill # used , It would be a great help .
I know, I know, I should just find a new carb, but I'd like to see if I can do this - Just as an experiment, you understand .
Thanks ,
Tom
