hi all, thanks for all your great advice so far, I have been able to fix up a 40 plus, and a silver century in my back garden. my neighbours cannot thank me enough when they hear my seagulls bark!
I foolishly allowed my century to slip over, fracturing the steel tank.....does any one know of a product that could repair this, maybe coating the inside??

It can be soldered. Many people do not realize it but, with the appropriate flux it is not much harder than soldering other more commonly soldered materials.
The key is liquid zinc chloride flux, keep cleaning the work piece as you go and reapply the flux steadily as you solder, I just keep dipping the soldering wire into the flux and applying to the work. Brush away the black grimy looking stuff and using a brush to spread the solder into the flux also to work at spreading the tinned area.
