I 've already posted this link in my question thread but just thought I'd post it seperately as well. Not the best pics but this is as I bought it, all I'd done at this stage was wipe the dust off. At £52 I'm happy. Seems cheap for a 5HP outboard that is usable aswell as interesting.
Since buying this I've been looking into the history of the company and I'm amazed they are not better known considering how long they were an active business. That and the fact that there doesn't seem to be a thing with an engine that they haven't had a crack at, and usually an original approach i.e impellerless outboards, motorbike with propeller etc.

It'a not really one of their's, it was designed & first built by Sharland in the early 1930s.

Wow that looks very good, and great value, was it one of the "lost warehouse full of Anzani singles".

Or is that an urban myth?

I am sure there has been a mention of it before on the forum

Somebody did repatriate a bunch of Super Singles from India I think - saw one at a boatyard on the Thames a while ago. They were being sold for around £450.00 and seemed to take a long time to go - if they ever did.
Anzani were an odd company, but obviously made a living - dabbled in fairground rides including bumper cars, ride-on lawn mowers, smallholding tractors, microcars etc. - I think the outoboard that made the most sense was the Pilot - a 2 - 2.5 Hp engine for small boats - a good 'together' design, but the rest of them - well...
The boss of Anzani Charles Harrison was a racer, and Anzani did take the outboard scene by storm briefly with a racing engine based on the Unitwin - blew off a lot of the American outboards which were current at the time.

If you go to the anzani website it still advertises 'new' 1976 anzanis for £450 but this is not one of those. This one is a '76 but was bought from Empire stores in Bradford. One owner from new. I have the original owners manual and warranty card. :D
