Could anyone tell me if the seagull crank should have end float as my one has about 1/4" play and if so does it affect the running?
Thanks.

Hi,
if you mean the flywheel moves up and down, then yes, this is normal. There is nothing inside to prevent this, there are no thrust washers and the drive shaft is a sliding fit. Side ways play should be ok if under 0.003" but gear oil will prove it, IE runs if I soak the bushes, won't run when dry.

But mine only moves by 3/64". 1/4" sounds excessive
