Name the engine

I saw this on ebay, and was trying to work out what it fitted to too. Is it off a US outboard? I'm not really up on those, but I know a few of you are?

It looks more of an inboard then an outboard.

As I am now stripping a Britannia down, I have been doing a bit of searching on the net for Britannia info. I finally realised this item is the bronze bottom end of a middy inboard. I'm now kicking myself for not bidding. It would be a nice item to have at that price!

Why are you stripping down? You should be a bit carefull how far you go with a Brit aye?

They come apart with parts that do not go back together like you would wish. Old bits with Old habits

You may have a mission here, let us know how you go?

Very nice engineering but they do not stand the test of time for Dicking about with without some care to detail and preserving what you may dismantle each bit at a time. Hard yards for doing it.

I'll post some pics later. The engine is quite tight, so the cylinders need to come off as a minimum.
