Looks like you have no exhaust cooling water from the block.

I always chuck the clamp and replace it with a screw.

Yes took me a few seconds to spot it...earplugs?

As my Yacht is problematic at the mo...I must also get a small boat to play with!

Lucky I had the ears plugs in ! No not the throttle rubbing or lack of cooling water . the exhaust tube fell down . the bolt I'd used wasn't threaded all the way to the head , and although it felt tight it had just run out of thread . So for 3 hours It was like that .
I think Charles was first, even though he was cryptic . I'll have to go to the prize cupboard and see what I can find . May be I'll send you some warmer weather

going past Huntley power station ~ coal fired from local mines and water cooled from the river only run at peak load which is not often these days . I am told this is usually not the line to take , I had no one to follow and the sand bars that typically are in this area where gone , though I believe the sand was on the near bank (town side) at this point was doing about 18 kph

The second day of the waikato challenge or what ever they intend to call it is 35 miles , compared to the first day as was raced this year of 49 miles .
Don't be fooled , with low water levels and the effect of incoming tide for the last 12 miles , mentally this section is way tougher . As the boat speed drops due to the force of a now opposing current every compression sounds like a knock ,you check the prop for weed more often , and with no one in vision your sure your competition is closing the gap and passing unseen on the other side of the many islands that litter the lower reaches . Punching into tide I slowed to 13 or so kph when at the at start I was doing 20 .

Thank you for your complement Oyster .
I like it ,the black /silver "look" of that motor and Stainless steel tank very much .
Not strictly seagull model correct , but if you guys haven't worked it out that I like to hot rod up the motors some what, there is no saving you .
Hopefully you consider my efforts sympathetic and tasteful or at least interesting cause a perfect restoration here you are unlikely to see . Not that I don't admire the better than new look with each feature vintage correct that some are able to produce .
May be that's in my future.

The Waikato Race is a great event , my first time this year and I loved every minute of it . A great crew of experienced guys that run and participate in it .
The distance , scenery and challenge the river presents makes it epic . It could cope with a few more entrants in some classes and a re gigging of some class parameters in my view , yet that in no way detracts from the event . I have on my typewriter my full race story and you'll be able to read it in the next issue of the Gull I hope . Regardless , it is one thing that should be on every seagullers bucket list , Charlie will tell you how hospitable Kiwis can be to people who are prepared to make effort and get out here to do this event , you would be surprised at the availability of boats on offer . So make it your next Easter adventure . And bring shorts
