I started on the paint and replaced the gaskets, its all pretty basic, it does have some damage to the skeg and flywheel, but skeg damage looks pretty common for this little motor, also made a replacement bracket for the tiny tiller arm, I may have a try at some ally welding, to repair the flywheel and skeg, but will have to see as the likelihood of getting another is slim.

This is the cleaned power head, just needs painting.

I had to straighten the air inlet, it was a bit dented.

Nice pre heat air intake, not bad for 1934.

Are you going to turn something up to replace that screw, it's got to look better with something else.

I like that screw...I bet it took longer to find the right "wrong screw" than to have ordered the real thing!

My spare carb has a hand made replacement.

It looks like the aluminium lever was a little fragile.

I might remove the screw and make a new aluminium one when it is running.

I did a little more to my one, just tank to do and decals to make.
And a tiny tiller handle to find.

David needs to get looking in sheds :D
Not a shed find, and not an outboard find but I did just stumble across 50 Johnson engines under a tarp and available for scrap prices. All 5/8ths and 1 hp 4 stroke IronHorses. :o Got me thinking that someone into old johnson outboards might do well to figure out if there are any parts shared with johnson Iron horse engines? same comppany same factory..... If carbs, points, coils, pistons etc are common to anything anyone is rebuilding let me know and I can go get a few before they head to a chinese foundry. They came from a serious collector so 90% of them are not stuck and were stored well until he died and they ended up outdoors. I hate the thought of so much good stuff going to waste. Now I just got to figure out what to power with my new 5/8th hp engines LOL.

H-A there was a thread on AOMCI by "Nali" from Montreal he is attempting to cast some carb levers, I think they may fit your motor you may want to have a look at that thread.

Thread titled "Cast A-50 parts" on ask a member.
