Villiers carb stupidity

Post by NeilF »

I've just this minute done a very silly thing. After having just received my newly helicoiled carb body from a generous forumite, I was eager to put it back together again. The jet was very stiff going back in and I thought a few gentle taps would get it back down. A suitable wooden drift could not be found, so I stupidly used a steel punch. I did try and take care to place the punch on the very edge of the jet centrepiece, really I did...........

Now, of course, the needle doesn't go all the way into the jet......

Needs must a new jet now be ordered from john.......

Why must I be always thwarted by the stupidity born of my impatience.......

Yep, I think we all have done something similar until we have learnt our lesson. Sure it is not resurrectable?

I suppose if I had a drill bit the exact size of the jet I could open it out?

I ordered a new jet centrepiece from John but was curious to note that the new was designated M90 whereas the old was marked M7J. He postulated that it might have been from a lawn mower? Seems a bit odd....

It any event even though I recovered the old with judicial use of a dremmel burr (by hand), I'll use the new to avoid any doubts
