ID Help wanted
I have acquired two seagulls, one them has the id code (WS1829GG6) the other has no number in the usual place. After trawling the SOS site i have got it down to a late 102 clutched longshaft, it has a recoil starter with a seagull badge on top, NL46/3A carb, 102W cast into the three bladed prop, a round brass tank with a stencil painted white SEAGULL followed by the sailor. It is this engine i will restore as i need a longshaft and the clutch seems a good idea. Do any of these clues point to a approx age? Many thanks.

Re: ID Help wanted
Pictures please
Gearbox & prop
Transom bracket
Cylinder from both side
Flywheel from HT lead side
Complete outboard both sides & back.
Someone will have an identical one then you'll have the model & approx age.

Nice
An E-102! Super condition.
I have a 1969 THC engine that has a similar ignition back plate support, but has wipac ignition rather than electronic and has the same carb. The tank decal looks like much later, could this be an engine made up from spares etc. in the early 80s?

Re: ID Help wanted
That's a Wipac points ignition with a recoil start, the support casting is to stop the recoil overloading the baseplate locating screw, the HT lead give the game away.
So the Wipac Mk 2 ignition should narrow it down a bit.

Re: ID Help wanted
A pic of ignition. The points were very cruddy, a light clean and now have a spark. the tank is ready to be sprayed, filled the dents. Considered the freezer method but it seemed rather hit and miss, could imagine the ends popping off. The carb next, is it possible to determine if converted to 25:1 with an external examination?
Re: ID Help wanted
Oops you are right. Not electronic ignition, so the same as my THC apart from the recoil.
Re: ID Help wanted
Carb. will need new cable and washers and maybe a 25:1 conversion kit, are these available from SOS?
Re: ID Help wanted
Why would the flywheel housing have the darth vader breather slot, thought they were only started in the late 80's QB models?

Heat is the HIV for ignitions.

Re: ID Help wanted
The 25:1 jet is avaialble from John; see the spares page. You will need to buy or make a box spanner as well.

Re: ID Help wanted
Actually you may find it's already a 25:1 carburettor. I suspect that motor was made in the eighties or at least in the very late seventies..
Re: ID Help wanted
Both my '82 Ed and '82 EFNR don't have the ventilation slot. So wonder why this motor has?
