HI have a WSPC long shaft which has i believe the Amal 2 jet carby on it.it is leakiny from the base of the float chamber & the base of the mixing chamber body,am new to seagulls & am asking for ideas on how to fix this.
is it as simple as putting a kit through the carby or replacing washers ?
many thanks in advance

Re: Leaky Amal Carb on WSPC
likley cause is worn threads in the carb body but try new washer or new bolt first. Many of us still waiting for worn thread cure
Leak in float chamber may be a poor seal on the needle or if coming from higher up -- badly adjusted float or a float that doesn't (float that is)
As has been said many times - if it doesn't leak it isn't a seagull

Possibly a leaking fuel tap? My carb was leaking until I replaced the tap cork.

John now has exchange Amal 46 throttle body with stainless steel replacement threads.
Just send him your stripped & cleaned faulty throttle body & sublect to your body being suitable for rebuilding a replacement will be on it's way by return of post.

Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
Re: Leaky Amal Carb on WSPC
On the same subject I have just stripped painted and rebuilt a carb I had forgotten about. Upon stripping I found a brass insert had been fitted and new slightly coarser threads cut on the banjo bolt. I imagine this will be similar to the repair/exchange John has. If you look closely at the photo you can see where the carb body has been machined behind the bush.
Good repair, I have several bodies needing this service, saves me doing it myself!

Wonder how much that costs off John?
