Re: 2012 flocking
There is talk of a run at Cholsey on the Thames in the near future. Could make the run up to the pub quicker if it rains.
could happen in the next month.
Also the 40+/- course in Chichester Harbour need looking at, so that is another possibility.
There is the "Round Hayling Marathon 21st July" 21 miles of great fun and adventure, people come from other countries for that, and even from Cornwall.
"Down the thames" has shown some interest, soon as the evenings get longer that will be in say May/June. ( need to mend a boat for blue).
I am still waiting for the first "Irish Seagull Gathereing" I am quite fond of Guinness.
"what is required apart from boat and seagull" not much, a sense of humour helps.
Where do you want to go cajmal?

Give us a clue what sort of rubber duck are we talking about?

Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
Re: 2012 flocking
Charles, I like the choice of words "rubber duck", last time I mentioned it someone called it a paddling pool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zQxqUon ... re=related Here's a link to one in use.
Please be kind with your remarks, ha ha. That's probably a silly request, can this link be hidden from H-A and Charles, they'll rip the p..s! At least if my better half gives permission it would make my long trip manageable with my boat/pool/duck and outboard in the boot.

I did notice in the video that swmbo stayed on solid ground . Perhaps she is waiting until the full size paddling pool arrives.
Or is it case of "it gets bigger when you add the water"

God, not another one to watch. I thought H-A and Charles were the only two. And you being a fellow countryman Skyeman!
Unfortunately I don't have, or didn't have the time to dedicate to this hobby as some others however hopefully a change is taking place and I hope to persue my dream of building a wee solid vessel, until that day comes I'm stuck with "my piece of rubber". It floats and has a transom for my FPC. It works as long as there's no jagged branches lurking about, then it will become a bigger sinking vessel with a water filled FPC.

Re: 2012 flocking
The hard at Itchenor is fine for inflating and launching an inflatable - smooth pebbles. The harbour is fine for even the smallest inflatables- I have gone from Chi Marina to Langstone Marina (outside along the coast) in an Avon Redcrest with a 40 Featherwight in fine weather and I regularly scoot about on the Avon or a Tinker Tramp so a run from Itchenor to East Head and back would be easy.spiderg wrote:Paul that looks like a nice build, how's about some info on it, and more pics.

The rules look good to Charles and myself, if there is anything that people are not sure about or happy about, please post your comments.Charles uk wrote:Here are the rules for entrants who are going all the way round.

I have always thought that there is a need for a 40+/- element in this event. Having seen what turns up to Essex and Lerryn, tenders with featherweights or inflatable with 40+ are a very common combinations.
As it is inside the harbour then I feel that single handed should be allowed, this will give far more people a chance to get involved.
Also it will allow the next generation of Seagull users to have a go.
If down to East Head, up to the bridge and back to Itchenor proves to be too far (about 16 miles) then there is also the option of going up the river to Bosham and back to Itchenor.
I think you had better get you survival suit out Charles it is almost February

We could go and have a look.
