PARTS LIST ....CROSS REFERENCE.

Post by bigoink »

Is there anyone out there with enough time , patience and knowledge to compile a parts cross reference list for all the various models ? ie. a list of parts that will interchange.

There is a British Seagull publication from - oh probably the sixties and seventies - that described what they called their 'Star Interchangeability Scheme'.

Each component was numbered and described, and on the right there were four columns; one each for Featherweight, Forty Plus, century, and Century Plus.

An oval tank, for example, would have a star in each of the four columns, a forty series transom bracket in the left hand two, and a Century Plus gearbox only in the last one.

Seagull were quite proud of this, and marketed their motors with frequent mention of this system.

I have a copy, but sadly can't lay my hands on it at the moment..

Good judgement is based on experience, unfortunately, experience normally come from poor judgement.
