VINTAGE FERRIER OUTBOARD MOTOR

Post by Lui »

FERRIER 120cc Vintage outboard motor. I believe it is 50+ years old. Ferrier / Kenneth Long & co. Made in Kent. A very rare and nice looking engine. Lovely aluminum castings and chrome petrol cap on black fuel tank. I bought it off of Andy; his user name is twostrokenut on this forum. He restored it and he might be able to tell you more about it if you asked him. He compleatly overhauled the head and fitted new stainless steel bolts and nuts. I have only used it once on my inflatable dinghy and had to stop using it immediately as it started leaking from the choke lever; I might have bent it slighty lying it down on the wrong side. I have tried to see if I can buy a new carb for it but not much luck. I think some one more mechanically minded would be able to fix the original carb or Amal in Salisbury would be able to recondition it. It’s probably just a seal. This is a very rare motor that needs a good home, the only one left in the UK that is in good runing order so I've been told. I have just moved to a smaller flat with out garden so can not demonstrate it running. I had it running in a tank a few weeks ago and it sounds very powerful, compression is very good. Thought to be approx 4hp.

Offers welcome but I would like a quick sale as I don’t have a lot of space and have bought another engine. Would be a shame to put it in storage and forget about it. I herd there was a guy in Finland with one and he was useing it regularly. The Ignition is witco, same as British Azani and the points should be easily obtained.

Call/text or e-mail me if you would like to know more though I think I've told you all I know. I'm going away camping in August so no e-mail please if you want a quick reply. Its approx 18'' from the top of where the transom mount hangs to cativation plate. Its a short shaft. I could e-mail photos. There is a photo of one on this forum with a yellow petrol tank. 07521731000 or Home 02076200970

Can you have a picture of your Ferrier. My uncles had one at 1950.s here in Finland. I was many times onboard boat pushed by Ferrier at river Kymi, village Jokue Iitti.

I have no idea from where my uncles byed this Ferrier ( silver coloured )

Ferrier 4 hp was a very unreliable to start, but when you got it started it worked like a Swiss Watch
