Problem with the Points.

Post by Mikey »

Hi All.
I have just bought a Seagull No. F166R5
When I got it home I replaced the Spark Plug for a new one and filled the tank with 10:1 two stroke oil mix.
The motor fired into life but seemed to be running uneven.
I tried to start it today but it will no start.
I have taken the top off to view the contact breaker points, and I have a problem, the contact base plate fixing screw head is all chewed up and I cannot remove it, and because of the small access hole I am limited to get to it.
Also the contact breaker spring is missing.
Do I have to remove the Magneto to get to it, and is this a big job.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Regards
Mikey.....

It would help if you removed the (Magneto) flywheel and a screw underneath will enable you to remove the whole ignition plate.
It will depend on your abilities, but not hard to do.
Parts are not that hard to get hold of.
