Nice brass bayonet tank, long water jacket with brass core plugs, interesting alloy bracket...

Is it a bitsa?

I think it probably is Charles, but whoever rebuilt it did a very nice job on the externals.
I think it started life as two 102s an SD & something a bit later, the SD provided the tank, the lower unit, prop, & the tiller arm.

Do you think we should give free cans of black paint away, I so hate the different coloured ones.

Good point Charles. Mind you if people must use paint other than black I'd much rather they avoided silver. It's the devil of a job to strip silver, makes a tremendous mess.

There are quite a lot of Seagulls round here that are painted either dark green or battleship grey. For ages I wondered if this was something to do with people shooting ducks and feeling the need for camouflage, but on enquiring I learned that large quantities of war surplus paint went astray in the 1950s, which explains why boats, houses, garages, sheds and fences were painted the same colours.

I agree about the bits. Nice tank & bracket, though.

Yet another 102. Item 330088912590. Seem to be very popular this week.

Interesting curved tiller arm. Reminds me of half a set of bicycle handlebars.

I have a suspicion it's an accessory available in the sixties. There were quite a few of these - another type was on eBay recently.

Missed that one, but saw a TD for sale today out of Bury-St. Edmonds. Seagulls pop up everywhere. Great town! Had more than one pint at the so called worldâ€™s smallest pub there on market day several times! Never found any Seagulls for sale, but bought a couple of great Wheatly Fly Boxes - wonderful shrimp/fish, cheese, eggs and veggies! I so enjoy learning about Seagulls from you all. You have helped me so much.

Rudder. haven't seen an accessory tiller. Don't know about the bent 'handlebar' on the one you quote.

Rudders were available (from the factory) for the early Marstons and B.S. motors - that's what the lugs on the silencer and water pump housing were for, but I have never seen one.

Later on they were cheap things called stuff like 'Gyde-a-bote' or 'AddaRudda'.

Seagull accessories and add-ons could fill a book, there are the rudders, handles spanners, carrycases, recoil starters, rudders...
