Three photos from my recent visit to Andy. He reckons his workshop is a mess, but he hasn't seen the state mine is in...

Here's the poster I referred to in an earlier post - still curled around the sides where they were tucked in. I know it's a thing of no value but it was quite a buzz to disover it!

This is how a Marston tank should look. A little surface rusting, maybe, but every letter is clear as a bell. I bet there are few if any around that are better.

Here's a Villiers recoil starter atop a 40 plus. Anyone know any more about them?

Hi Charles,

the villiers starter is a first, never seen anything like it.. hope we turn some more up to prove it is a Seagull add on, rather than a one off!...

I can verify that the transfer is right, I have exactly the same one on mine, but not quite so clear!

The poster is good, though in a sad condition. Many were made, but because they were displayed on the wall and thus subject to the dust and weather maybe, si rarely survived.

The one I have of 'the waterboat' survived because it was framed behind glass... Bet not many were like that.

What a strange circle of life. Here I am, first generation to be landed in the States, and I happen across Johns' site while looking for a kicker for my daughters boat.....with roots in Wolverhampton...

....my mother comes from Dudley and my Father Tipton, with most of the rest in the West Midlands still...

I thought Sunbeamland had been demolished!

Have you any recent photos? Is there a Sunbeamland museum or archive?

Hi Charles,The old villiers factories are all still very much there. They have been made into small units. You will find them between "Upper Villiers Street and Marston Road". I kid you not.To my knowledge there is no museum at the site, but there is part in the black country museum showing various engines, motorcycles and even a seagull (well it was there a few years ago when i last went) Sunbeamland is approximately half a mile away in Jeddo Street next to the main Wolverhampton ring road. Its in a state of disrepair, but its still standing. I have a couple of photos and if someone could let me know how to post them i will put them on.

If you mail them to me I'll put them up for you.

I'll start a new thread and put an old one up first...

Steve - its a date for a brew....I take it you are in/around Wolverhampton - my nearest relatives would be Wombourne...not too far away.

I traverse the pond annually to see the folks in Mansfield and the Black Country (as well as Telford) - last time for a funeral unfortunately

My daughter did her recent report on Ironbridge and the birth of the Industrial Revolution.

Ive even been to the Black Country Museum!!!

Hi yes i live just on the outskirts of Wolverhampton, if you have travelled to Wombourne from the north and have passed through Wolverhampton you have passed Sunbeamland its on the main A449.
