Hi all, yup I'm new here and new to seagulls too. I'm a medically retired boat cap'n that's been on land too long. I got to play with a Brit seagull back when I lived in Alaska. Was impressed with the simplicity and reliability. Now on the beach in Western Washington state I'm missing being on the water so plan A was to get a little <12ft river/lake boat and tow it behind my Ural sidecar outfit. As the plan progressed I found two seagulls before I found the boat. Appears I've got a 40 featherweight and a 40 plus both 1976 vintage and both in restorable condition. When searching the web for Brit Seagull info I found this forum and the SOS site. Nice job folks. I was hoping for a site to help me learn these little motors and so far so good. The section on 'boats for seagulls' was a pure bonus. My motors won't end up 100 points concours correct collectables just reliable since I'm a simple rock with pointy stick toolbox guy.
Anyway to make a short story long, great site you folks have here. I do intend to get the proper shop manuals from John along with at least a few W/BSF tools since the one's from my old Triumph bike days are prolly hiding in the yard somewhere waiting to be discovered by the lawn mower and most likely I'll spray grass killer(yearly chore) before I actually use the mower so time for a new tool stash.
Regards,
Joe
