Charles It looks like your right the Marston OF does have a reverse gear so is a full FNR gearbox of the Harper design.
I admit I now owe you 1 pint of alcholic refreshment of your choice.

Having said that, no need for apology, your reluctance to believe was very much in the spirit of the true scholar, and you were quite correctly demanding some sort of evidence - a far better approach than simply believing what someone's auntie once said in a pub!.
Now all I have to do is to convince you that the ON and OP models were made by both Marston's and British Seagull. I have as yet nothing that might convince you properly, but I'm working on it.
