Advice needed please. I am attempting to remove the Wipac flywheel assembly from an extinct,cracked block/seized piston, Silver century.
I want to replace the old and faulty Villiers system on my '64 Century plus.
I have remove all bolts from the crankshaft bearing casings and,of course the flywheel itself. Question.....because of the seized piston \i am unable to withdraw the entire assembly. Can I remove just the upper bearing casing? OR can I remove just the flywheel base plate?
I presume the screw [very tight!!] underneath the base plate locks same into the crankshaft.
I have a workshop manual on back order with John.

Hello Steve,
to remove the base plate off the defunct motor, you just need to unscrew the screw under the baseplate that locks and locates it to the crankcase.
It might take a little heat to release the screw, WD40 and an impact screwdriver, they can be stubborn.
None of the rest of the motor need be touched.

If all else fails take the whole thing down to your local TIG welder & ask him to weld a length of 8mm bar to the lock screw now put the stilsons on it, a bit out, a bit in, often helps.
Don't go home till it's out as you might break the weld.
Now ring John with your engine number & ask for a new screw.
I get through 6 or 7 of these screws a year, I go so often the welder knows how I take my tea.
