I think he might have seen your polished racing box which had a bronze tint to it in the photo. :D

I meant one of the 102s produced for the navy with bronze bits. :(

Would anyone know of a suitable engine for sale? I would be looking to restore to original condition.

Probably one turns up on ebay every 5 or 6 weeks, 20% or less of them are "Navy" type, these seem to be considered more desirable than the standard SD, so expect that several people will be looking & bidding & the price you have to pay will reflect this.

The minimum age any SD can be is 64 years, so don't expect it to be complete when you buy it, if you lucky it might have done very little work but the chances are that one or two of it's owners have made it work hard.

We only know of 2 wartime transom brackets that are still in existance, iron angle iron not bronze, & I've asked Rick to post a picture of one so our members know what one looks like.

I have a couple of the navy type, but like them a lot so would prefer to keep them unless you've got something tempting to swop.

Good luck.

Thanks, I'm keeping an eye open at the moment. I just got a very clean and original late 1970s 40 plus with clutch from just down the road on ebay, without a tank, so patience seems to be the key!

What would tempt you to think about a swap?

Mutineer that gear box never was able to tale a clutch
To install a clutch would entail changing everything below the crankcase except the exhaust.

Hi Charles

Do you have any gearboxes for a silver century with clutch, serial number WSPC328HH6? Mine got dropped and snapped the casing. If the clutched ones are hard to come by could a non clutch one fit?

I come past maidenhead quite often so could call in if you had either one.

Thanks

Hi Charles do you have a good brass tank for a 40plus, i'm also after a good chromed driveshaft for the 40+ without clutch

Simon give me a ring I can help you, I've emailed you my number.

Andy I don't break Seagulls for parts & any parts I supply are predominantly racing parts to racers.
Good tanks & good chromed drive shaft tubes are like rocking horse droppings, it's probably cheapest to buy a complete motor.

I'm always looking for late model (69 onwards) cylinder blocks without cracks in the water jacket.
